Prep Teacher

Hello and Happy 2022!

My name is Marnie Newbound, and I am the Prep teacher at Holy Family for this year. I am incredibly excited to be teaching in the Junior School this year. I spent much of my studies at University focusing on Early Childhood Education, which is a huge passion. 

Outside of the classroom, I love to stay active, spending most of my free time going for long beach walks, dancing competitively or going to the gym.

My favourite part about my job, and why I love teaching, is seeing the students grow in confidence as they learn new things, make new friends and experience success at school. Spending time with children also helps me see the joy in every day as they light up when they become excited about things they have never seen or done before - it allows me to experience life with fresh eyes. It encourages me to stop and reflect on life’s little happy moments.

I love working at Holy Family because the staff, teachers, and students genuinely care for one another, which creates a wonderful working and learning environment and a welcoming community where we all belong.

This holiday snap is a picture of my Mum and me after finding my dream wedding dress. In November this year, I will be getting married, and this was an exciting step in the lead up to a long-awaited and very special occasion.

This experience has helped me focus on all of the exciting steps we will take together across the 2022 school year. How true this is for the Prep students as they embark on a brand new time in their lives, become primary school students, create special memories, and learn many new things, just as I will be preparing to step into the next part of my life.
