Junior Mathematics Year 7 and 8

Junior Mathematics at St. Peter’s College is being delivered by an online program called Maths Pathways.

Maths Pathway supports Teachers to have a greater impact in the classroom through a Learning and Teaching Model that delivers truly engaging and personalised learning for each Student.

Parents new to Maths Pathways may be struggling with how to best assist their children with learning at home. This diagram has been shared with you to give you some direction when it comes to the Maths Pathways program for students in Year 7-8.

In most cases, students will be required to complete a minimum of 6 modules per cycle in Maths Pathways in Years 7 and 8.

To introduce the Year 7 students into the Maths Pathways program Teachers began with a week of Inspirational Maths to fully engage the Students in the program.

Students thoughts on the week of Inspirational Maths:

Chloe - “This week, math was fun but educational”

Jesse - “Math was like going down different paths”

Srihasa - “This week math was about learning and not giving up”

Isabella - “This week Maths for me was about thinking outside the box and always be persistent”

Nandan - “Maths has taught me to always try my best and always be ready to learn”

Andrew - “Never give up”

Rylan - “Outside of the box, creative and fun but educational”

Ayoil - “It was fun, kind of hard at the same time.  Overall it was good”

Aatiyah - “I learnt something new and it was fun for me”

Students have been very engaged in their first week of learning at St. Peter’s College.

Did you know that Navarre Drive, the original main entrance of the Cranbourne Campus of St. Peter’s College, takes its name from the Basque Kingdom of Navarre? Navarre is a small country that occupied, and continues to occupy, lands on both sides of the western Pyrenees Mountains. It lays between present-day Spain and France. Today, Navarre is a Spanish Province. Its capital is Pamplona. Many tourists take part in Pamplona’s annual Running of the Bulls. Navarre is relevant to the history of St. Peter’s College as it is the birthplace of St. Francis Xavier who was born in 1506. He became a Jesuit missionary who is famous for his evangelical work in many parts of South-East Asia. St. Francis died on the Chinese Island of Shangchaun. Having left Europe for his missionary activity, he never returned.

Navarre Drive reminds the community of St. Peter’s College that the college was originally the junior campus of St. Francis Xavier College, Beaconsfield.
