Boarding at Loreto

Welcome Back

Welcome back to Loreto Boarders and families. We have kicked off with a very different start in 2022.

This year will see a very different spin on many of the Loreto Boarding Traditions, and who knows, maybe new traditions will evolve. What remains the same is the staff’s commitment and passion to create an environment where your daughter can live, learn and laugh whilst developing life long memories and friendships.

For your peace of mind, Loreto Boarding has established a separate isolation space to temporality house boarders who may become close contacts and or positive cases, until family can pick them up. The space includes an indoor and outdoor area where boarders can recreation, eat and move about within the constraints of isolation rules. Boarders will also be monitored with regular checks on their wellbeing and health status.

It has come to our attention that Boarding families have been denied PCR testing at authorised sites. Please check your inbox for a copy of a letter from Chief Public Health Officer, Nicola Spurrier, permitting access to a PCR test before returning to Boarding. Please advise myself and Dr Nicole Archard, should you be denied as all cases going forward, from 11/2/2022, need to be reported direct to SA Health.

Should your daughter become a close contact and or a positive case, the advice from SA Health states that persons transporting will need to wear a correctly fitted N95 mask. Please refer to the link below for information on fitting this mask. I realise that these masks have been in short supply and difficult to obtain. I have found Chemist Warehouse have reasonable stock levels and 1/3 of the cost from other supplies. They are approximately $4.50 per mask.

Every measure is being taken to keep all boarders comfortable, safe and above all engaged in Boarding. The goal being for girls to find the balance of our new “normal” . What this looks like is timed local leave, continue with club sport, no use of public transport, over night leave with family only (on the proviso that this family is able to host a boarder if they are required to isolate), and correctly fitted face mask on in the Boarding House at all times except in own bedroom.

There will be weekend excursions that all boarders can sign up for and our commitment weekend will be February 26 and 27.

Stay safe and sane.
