Grievances -- Article 7

  • Are you aware that any OGEA member may file a grievance if your contract has been violated?
  • You should hold an informal meeting with your supervisor to attempt to resolve the problem first.
    • Make sure you document the informal meeting in an email.
  • A Level 1 grievance should be filed within 30 days of the known violation.
  • You are not required to get approval from an OGEA officer prior to filing a grievance, although we are available to help.  You also have an OGEA site representative to assist you in this process.
  • The paperwork to file a grievance is available as an appendix at the end of the contract. (Level 1 Form)
  • Administrators are not allowed to retaliate if you file a grievance.
  • You can file a grievance and enforce BOTH our contract and our Safety MOU.
    • If the safety MOU is violated, you should file a grievance in addition to contacting our safety chair.
  • You can find more information (including timelines, steps, and forms) in Article 7 and the Appendix of the OGEA contract.

Transfers -- Article 11

  • Are you aware that the OGEA contract now gives permanent/tenured employees a right to priority consideration for transfers if you submit the paperwork by March 15th?
  • The District must acknowledge receipt of your transfer request in writing.
  • The District is required to post a list of transfer opportunities by March 1st.  They are supposed to keep it updated through the end of the year.
  • You do not have to accept a transfer opportunity even if it is offered.
  • If your transfer is denied, you can request a meeting to discuss the reasoning behind the decision.
