Curriculum News
Dear Community,
My name is Emma Voigt and I am the new Curriculum Leader at Clovelly Park Primary School. Over the past two years, I have been the Student Wellbeing Leader so my face may be familiar; however, I am changing roles and I’m now responsible for supporting the teachers to implement the Australian Curriculum using evidence-based, highly effective teaching practices that elevate student achievement and help each and every child achieve their personal best. I am also responsible for leading our International Education Program and supporting families from overseas settle into our school community. I can’t wait to help inspire learning at Clovelly Park!
Online Learning
Many of our classes started their 2022 school year with online learning! Most of our Year 2-6 students were learning from home over the past two weeks and we would like to acknowledge their flexibility and persistence when engaging in our online learning program. Students persevered with their literacy and numeracy tasks and pursued their personal best from home. A special well done to Y2 and Y7!
R4 and R5 Receptions and year ones have had a great start to the year. We begin our day in the COLA (covered outdoor learning area) where we get the chance to show our parents around, make new friends, and explore curriculum areas through play while we settle in. In our first week we started learning about class expectations and routines. We learnt all the things we need to do at school independently like putting away our belongings, lining up to move around the school respectfully and how to do whole body listening to help us learn. We began to look at the 5 Play is the Way concepts that we follow at school to keep us safe and ready to learn. We have incorporated these ideas to create our class agreements to make for a fun and productive year ahead!
Class G3 welcomed the start to our new school year with online learning. As a site and community, we navigated this space with lots of uncertainty, with the everchanging landscape before us. We certainly had to have a’ bubble-gum brain’ (flexible thinking), as staff and students alike learned many new skills.
I saw the students in G3 rise to the many challenges that were set before them, helping each other via online conversations and learning to problem solve when they couldn’t work things out immediately. Whilst they learnt the important curriculum that was set for them, they also learnt some life skills such as time management, persistence, flexibility and independence. I have nothing but praise for my students!
