PI Day Celebration

The college celebrated  Pi (π) Day last Monday,14th of March. There were different activities and competitions in all the Mathematics classes that students enjoyed. There was the yearly bake a cake/cupcake contest for the culinary enthusiasts where the students’ creativity in decorating the pie cakes/cupcakes was the main criteria in judging. There was a competition for writing words that start with pi, as well as Trivia questions where answers start with pi.

Year 7 students enjoyed the Story time of Sir Cumference and the First Round table. And for the art enthusiasts, there was  the color- in competition using the values of pi. Gift vouchers were given to students who won the class challenge activities.

Riverina Sumdog Competition

8D Maths recently competed in the Riverina competition held by the online learning engine Sumdog. Sumdog provides an engaging and adaptive online education platform where students answer mathematical questions, individually personalised, within a gaming environment.

The Riverina competition was held between 18th to the 25th February requiring students to complete up to 1000 mathematical questions and activities online. Our class of 26 students competed against 24 other classes in the Riverina.

Students were provided with opportunities to complete questions during class and were also encouraged to attempt questions at home.

8D were successful in coming first in the Riverina with congratulations to Gemma Lynch, Kavneet Kaur, Sameer Dhillon and Isabella Sartor, who achieved results that placed them in the top 10 in the Riverina with Karwarpal Singh coming 3rd, Marcus Virago 2nd and Leti Veamatahau who was placed 1st in the Riverina for answering 413 out of the 461 she attempted questions correctly.
