Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Parent / Teacher interviews will be held next week and bookings are now able to be made through the Conferences tab on the Compass App or by: clicking the 'Book Parent Teacher Interviews' button next to your child's photo on their Compass homepage, or by clicking the Dashboard Alert at the top of the News Feed in your Compass Parent Portal.   I encourage all families to take this opportunity to meet your child’s teacher to discuss shared goals and any questions or concerns you may have.  Meetings will be held online and are limited to 10 minutes.  If you require a longer meeting, please arrange this with your child's teacher.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a part-time Business Manager. Applications close at the end of next week and interested persons are invited to apply via DET Recruitment online.  Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

We are also seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would be suitably qualified/experienced in undertaking general maintenance works on a casual basis.  For more information, please contact the office on 57544354.

Tomorrow, a number of our students will head to Falls Creek for the Inter-School Mountain Bike Ride.  Many thanks to all participating families for their support and coordination of transportation.  Thank you also to Joel for his assistance with organisation and to Nicole, who will be the supervising teacher on the day.

Over the last week, elections for the 2022 Student Representative Council (SRC) have been held in Years 3-6.  The following students are congratulated on their successful nomination.  Year 3: Cleo and Sebastian  Year 4: Amahlie and Mack  Year 5: Charlie and Zelk Year 6: Suni and Lucas.

Over the next two weeks, our outgoing SRC will assist with the induction of the new SRC.  My sincere thanks to all these students for the dedication, pride and respect they have demonstrated in their leadership at assemblies and representation of the school at public events, as well as in their planning for school improvement and activities during lunchtime meetings.

Congratulations to all students who participated in last week's Division Swim in Wodonga and good luck to those students have now qualified for the next level of competition either in their individual events and/or relays.  The Regional Carnival will be held at Aquamoves in Shepparton on Wednesday, 2nd March, 2022.

As announced earlier this week, the government is extending the Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) program in Schools.  RATs may be collected next week, in the morning from 8.45am and 9.15am or in the afternoon from 2.45 - 3.15pm.

Following a successful grant application to extend the BER building in 2021, we are excited to announce that these works are expected to commence within the next 2 weeks.  As the BER (Library/French/Music) building is our Shelter in Place, these building works will extend the current storeroom to allow for the inclusion of some much needed bathroom facilities and a kitchenette/meeting room.  My sincere thanks to Amanda Clarke for her support with the application process and also to Justin Hanlon, who will be undertaking the build.

School photos will be held this year on Thursday 31st March.  Over the next few weeks families will be sent information from MSP Photography advising when orders can be placed through the Parent Portal on Compass.  All family/sibling photos are to be ordered through the portal as well.  Please ensure, if you are purchasing family photos, to have this done before photo day as only families that have been paid in advance will have a family photo taken.  If you are having difficulties in placing your order, please ring the MSP office on (03) 5482 3190.
