Prayer

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Church’s season of Lent. The marking of the ashes on our foreheads on this day is a public expression of our faith and humility. It is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Through prayer we come closer to God so that we are better able to realise the promises made for us at our baptism, to live justly as Jesus teaches us.

God of hope and compassion,

You remind us of the need to turn away from our own desires, and to care for our global family, particularly at a time that has seen great loss and suffering.

We pray that during this time of Lent, we may grow in understanding of the challenges faced by those who are marginalised and vulnerable in our world

as we make a home for them in our hearts.

And as we see the challenges of others, may we respond with love and hope,

now and for all future generations.

Be with us as we walk in solidarity with our brothers and sisters.

We ask this in Jesus’ name.

We have many special intentions with our prayers.  We pray for the people of northern NSW and south eastern Queensland as they battle with flood waters, and offer our prayers and support to friends and family.

We pray deeply for the people of Ukraine, and pray for peace.

Rescheduled Senior Swimming Carnival - Monday 7 March

We have been able to reschedule our Senior Swimming Carnival.  It will now be held next Monday, 7 March, at Macquarie University Aquatic Centre.

As mentioned previously, the swimming carnival is a compulsory event for all students, however, students should not attend if unwell with COVID-19 symptoms.

Students should also remember that masks are to be worn on the buses to and from the carnival.

P & F Commencement Mass - Last Saturday Evening

Last Saturday we joined the Parish for our P & F Commencement Mass and my thanks to all the parents, students and staff who attended. Fr David was very affirming of the school and blessed us for the year ahead.

Unfortunately, we were not able to have our welcome BBQ due to the weather. We will need to just save our energy and excitement for the P & F Cocktail Party on 1 April at 7.00 pm – SAVE THE DATE!

P & F Meeting  – Next Monday 7 March at 7.00 pm

Our first meeting of year will be held next Monday 7 March in A Wing, with a tour of B Wing.

All new parents are especially welcome!

Our guest speakers will be Mrs Jill Greenwood – new Head of the Junior School and Mr Couani.

All are welcome.

Write a Song in a Day

At Assembly on Monday we congratulated our 2021 School Captain, Liam Chang, and 2021 Performing Arts Captain, James Baldock, who along with music students Luke Sarkissian, Xavier Domenici and Callum Skinner as well as our Social Justice Coordinator Mr Ryan Balboa and Ensemble Program Coordinator Mr Nathaneal Primrose-Heaney collaborated to compose and perform an entry for the 'Social Justice through the Arts' Write a Song in a Day competition.  Their song and a video clip will be used to promote this year's Edmund Rice Seminars of 'Hope'.

We thank Ms Marisa Brattoni from the Edmund Rice Centre and Liam and James who attended Assembly on Monday.
