Years F/1

Congratulations to Jaxon on reading for 25 nights.
Congratulations to Jaxon on reading for 25 nights.

Our students are making lots of great progress and it was terrific to talk to our families this week at the parent teacher interviews. Our Foundation students have settled in really well and definitely got the hang of school life! Each week that goes past we celebrate the learning of all our students.

Each school day, our students come to school, change their books and then read with one of our senior students or with the teachers. This extra time really helps their reading skills improve and practise by pointing to words, saying the sounds to blend to make words and discussing what the story is about.  When our students reach increments of 25 nights, they are able to get a prize from Ms Ferrier's Tressure Box. Well done to Jaxon for reading at home for 25 nights!

In Maths this week the Year 1s are learning about time and describing duration using months, weeks, days and hours. The Foundation students are ordering events in a day and connecting days of the week to familiar events.

Did you know?

On Monday we have Art with Mrs Brabham.

On Tuesday we do Huff'n'Puff and and Science with Miss Thompson.

On Wednesday we do lots of Maths and Writing.

On Thursday we have Music with Mrs Garland.

On Friday we have the Library van visit.

On Saturday and Sunday, it is the weekend so we have lots of fun with our families.

Mrs McNaughton measured all the students with string to see how tall they are. Ivy was the tallest but I wonder who will be tallest by the end of the year!
