On the 15th March 2022, four students from ASC were invited to attend a Vinnies Social Justice Workshop. This workshop highlighted real social justice issues in our society and all over the world. The day comprised 4 sessions. The first session was based on identifying current social justice issues and issues within our community. The second session was focused on skills required to make a difference. We discussed pastoral care and Centacare delivered a presentation about mental attitude. In the third session, we identified our skillset by completing a personality test and learned about leadership skills. The final session was establishing how we can make a difference in society. We also had the opportunity to ask a panel of people questions about careers and vocations. TAFE and UNE discussed different career options in community services.
This day helped us gain a better understanding of the social issues in our community and the world. It also gave us the opportunity to start volunteering and exploring various pathways in community services.
