Parents and Friends Association
PFA
On Thursday 14th July, a small but enthusiastic group of parents came together for the Parents and Friends Association (PFA) AGM. In a hard-fought presidential campaign, the Deprez’s (AJ and Dwayne) were voted in as the Co-Presidents. Mel Daglish has agreed to take on the role of treasurer and Nat Angelone the role of secretary. Making up the committee are Travis Carrick and Andrew Cunningham. Below is a little blurb about each of the PFA members and a photo (so you can recognise us in the playground and come and chat to us with your ideas, suggestions or ask any questions).
We would love to have a few more parents or friends join us on the committee. We are particularly keen for a representative (ideally two) from each of our communities. We currently do not have a Year 3/4 or Year 5/6 parent representative on the PFA. We would really appreciate having representatives who have been at the school for a number of years, who know what has worked and what hasn’t worked in the past, and who can (perhaps most importantly) represent the needs and interests of the older students.
Being on the committee is not a large commitment. We are flexible with meeting times, formats (joining online for example is possible) and the amount of involvement required (plus all the ‘formal’ roles have already been filled).
If you would like to nominate to join, please email pfa@cckingsville.catholic.edu.au.
AJ and Dwayne Deprez are new parents to the school this year, their son Leo is in Prep N. They also have an almost-four-year-old daughter Emi, and a cocker spaniel called Oscar. AJ is a lawyer in the Victorian Public Service and in all her spare time is a rower and the Vice-captain of her rowing club. Dwayne is a civil engineer and Team leader at Greater Western Water and loves riding his bike, hanging out with friends as well as drinking coffee and red wine. They bought a caravan at the start of 2021 and love to take it away with the kids as much as possible.
Melinda (Mel) Daglish is a Mum of three children and one fur child - Isla in Year 2, Henry in Year Prep, Elsie in 3-year-old Kinder and Ted the spoodle. Melinda works as an Osteopath in private practice and in her downtime enjoys watching the footy, playing tennis and spending time with her family and friends.
Natalie (Nat) Angelone is a mum of two, Alexis in Year Prep N and Harrison in 4-year-old kinder. Nat is a Senior Regions Manager for a chemical engineering membership body, managing the Australasian operations and in her spare time likes going to concerts, watching the footy (Go Dogs!), hanging out with friends and going on holidays with the family.
Andrew Cunningham, has a daughter, Ái in
Year1/2 B, and a son, Rory in Prep N. Andrew is currently doing a Masters in data science and does consultancies in web and app internationalisation, and ICT language enablement. Fancy terms for doing obscure IT-related things with community and refugee languages.
Travis Carrick
has a son in Year 1 and a daughter who is 3. Travis teaches at St. Therese’s School in Essendon and plays cricket, surfs and loves a beer.
