Celebration of learning

FANGALS

Congratulations to the Year 11 Drama students upon such an amazing staging of the play ‘Fangals’ on Thursday 23rd June.  It was greatly enjoyed by both a public audience and the Year Eights who were invited to the Matinee performance.

The play reflects upon what it means to be ‘in love’ and recognises the importance of connection in our world. Alongside this play the Year Eight Drama Ensemble presented ‘Before the Concert’ and the Year Seven Drama Ensemble participated as ‘fans’.  Their job was to greet members of the audience on arrival and to give them ‘Star’ treatment.  It was rumoured that the world famous celebrity ‘Harry’ would make an appearance but, it was not until Act II that he did in fact show up.

The work was warmly received by all and many members of the audience enjoying both the performance and also the ‘Star’ treatment; a few going back for more. For other audience members, I only convinced them, that a life led out of the spotlight was to be preferred.  The work was student driven and focused upon the process of creating, interpretation and incorporating theatrical production elements.  Congratulations to Year 11 Drama and members of the Drama Ensembles who achieved both staging and scenic success.

Here are a few moments recorded from the exciting events of the rehearsal process and performances.

SRC Hot chocolate!
SRC Hot chocolate!

The SRC ran a hot chocolate stall and despite the lovely, warm weather everyone went to get a cup of the delicious chocolatey drink. It was environmentally friendly and lots of students brought keep cups. Dairy free options were provided as well as a truckload of toppings! Magical mushy marshmallows! Scrumptious sprinkles! Wonderful hand-bought whipped cream! All proceeds were donated to the Beyond Blue Foundation- a total of $225!
