The following information provides COVID safe measures from the School Operation Guide.
Vaccinations
From Saturday 25 June, all school staff (including principals, teachers, administration and education support staff, including casual relief teachers (CRTs), pre-service teachers, and Outside School Hours Care staff), volunteers, contractors and visitors are no longer required to meet COVID-19 vaccination requirements to attend work. Parents, carers and other adult visitors are no longer required to show evidence of two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine for visiting or volunteering at the school.
Masks
The three main education bodies (Department of Education, Independent Schools Victoria and the Catholic Education Commission) have collectively issued a statement urging that students from Year 4 and above and all staff wear masks indoors at school to prevent the spread of Covid and other winter illnesses. This is in line with the advice from the acting Chief health Officer.
The College Executive teams at Heatherton and Wyndham Christian College have discussed this issue in recent days and have made the decision that although masks will not be compulsory, the College strongly recommends all staff and all students in Year 4 to Year 12 wear a fitted face mask when in a classroom setting
Rapid Antigen Testing
The Victorian Government is providing further deliveries of rapid antigen tests in Term 3 and again in Term 4 to schools. It is recommended that rapid antigen tests are used by students and staff when symptomatic. Household contacts are required to test negative using a rapid antigen test on at least 5 out of 7 days if they are attending or working at a school onsite. Rapid Antigen Tests will be sent home when the College receives the stock.
Reporting a COVID case
All schools are required to submit a weekly COVID-19 report to the Department of Health, it is important therefore that all students and staff who test positive to COVID-19 inform the College office via phone on 8740 4770 or email at office@wyndhamcc.vic.edu.au
Face Masks Household contacts of a COVID-19 positive family member attending school who are over 8 years of age are required to wear face masks indoors unless they have a valid exception.
Managing a confirmed case of COVID-19 in schools
Parents/carers are able to leave isolation if other arrangements cannot be made to transport their non-infectious child via private vehicle to and/or from school. The person leaving self-isolation must travel directly to and from the location, making no stops, unless there is an emergency or as required by law. They must remain in the vehicle at all times, unless it is reasonably necessary to leave the vehicle to deliver the person to and from school, and must wear a face covering whilst outside the place of self-isolation.
Section Chapels, Whole School Assembly and Worship
Our College continues to hold our Weekly Assemblies (Monday 8:50am to 9:10am) and Worship Friday 8:50am to 9:10am. We also have our fortnightly Chapel services, Prep to Year 2 from 1:45pm to 2:35pm and Year 3 to 7 from 2:35pm to 3:15pm. We encourage parents to attend and share this time with us. Chapels are in the Church Hall, Worship and Assembly are on the Basketball Courts.
After School Traffic
We appreciate the patience and support while our building works begin. The trucks in the carpark will be minimal in the next few week, however there is no movement in the morning drop off time and after school collection times. We have noticed that when parents are waiting at the Wollahra Rise estate, they are encouraging their children to cross the road independently. It is crucial for their safety that the parents come and wait at the gate and walk with them to the vehicle.
