Welcome to Term 3!

Travelling to WCC on the first day of Term 3, was like the first day of Term 1. I was filled with excitement and honored to be working amongst passionate staff, and supporting amazing students and parents.  Every day at WCC provides the opportunity of growth, it is not just our buildings, but the wonderful treasure within them, our staff and children. 

 

Our staff have been exploring the wonderful profile of WCC. The wordle represents how the staff identified the WCC profile, and how they engage within the community. We focus on using common language that supports expected behaviour and learning engagement.

 

A fabulous resource!

The internet provides an amazing resource, to help us achieve a great deal. We can use it to source material, schedule our day, provide problem solving platforms, explore our learning and critical thinking, and develop high level of efficiency. However, it can also cause problems and challenge within our daily routine and to achieve our set goals.

The Year 7 students began their digital licence journey last week and they were surprised how much they did not know.  They also began to investigate how digital technology can be used in our daily routine, in which it does not have a positive impact. Many students shared that they were addicted to their device, that their device usage was out of control and they slept with their device beside their bed. Many students said it was the first and last thing they did each day. We then set a 7 day device free zone challenge. They were to choose one of the following suggestions and then share it with their family, it would be a whole commitment. The suggestions are:
