Art Week 2022 Report

Art Week 2022 is now done and dusted! And what a busy, creative, and rewarding week it was!

The Art Captains and many volunteer Students (with the help of supervising Art teachers) ran numerous activities and competitions throughout the week. These included:-

  • The “Surrealist live” Art competition where easels were set out in the 400 Open area during lunch times to allow students to draw and paint some dreamy images on to paper (winner to be announced by the end of Week 4…)
  • The “Project Runway” inspired paper fashion competition, where students were encouraged to create an outfit using newspaper, wire, and tape. The final outfits were fantastic and the fashion parade on Friday was a great success. Congratulations to the winners for 2022 (as determined by audience vote):

Team 1: Maryam 7C, Layan 7D, Jaimee 7D & Khadija 7D

  • The Chalk Challenge (drawing oversized Surrealist images in the lower Courtyard using chalk (obviously)…)
  • Other activities included the EDSC Art Instagram “Surrealism” Competition (winner also to be announced soon), + Badge-making (raising donations of $215.00 for the environmental charity Halfcut.org to help save parts of the Daintree Rainforest) & Arm decorating & painting  (Covid-safely)!

A very big thankyou to all those students, teachers and support-staff who got involved in the activities to make the week such a success!

A special big thank you also to the Art, Design & Media teachers & our amazing Art & School Captains who got behind the week so generously and did so much to make it the success it was. What legends they are!

I’m already looking forward to Art Week 2023!
