Student of the Week Awards Presented 29/7/22

Mila L. - 00L

This award goes to Mila for making different words in SMART spelling using our weekly digraph ‘ay’. Mila swapped the letters at the start of our word ‘tray’ to create other words with the same ending ‘ay’. Well done on a terrific effort Mila. You are a Scoresby Superstar!

Bodhi N. - 1/2D

This award is going to Bodhi for his excellent participation in reading this week. Bodhi confidently shared his visualisations of a poem with the class, thinking carefully about the poet’s word choices and how it affects a reader’s mental image. Fantastic work Bodhi – keep up the wonderful work.

Wil S. - 1/2G

This award goes to Wil for his hard work in writing this week. Whilst he can sometimes find writing difficult, what I love is that he always willing to have a go. This resulted in him creating a wonderful colour poem. Keep up the great work Wil. I love having you in 1/2G - you are a ray of sunshine.

Sarah F. - 1/2K

This award goes to Sarah for the outstanding effort she displayed in writing this week. Sarah was asked to write CVC words. Not only did she write one but she filled her entire board! She wrote with precision and accuracy, listening to all the sounds in the word. As a result, she spelled them all correctly. Well done Sarah, we are incredibly proud of your efforts. Keep up the great work!

Harshith P. - 3/4B

This award goes to Harshith for his enthusiasm during Coding. He was full of excitement when using the iPad to move his Sphero around the room. Harshith enjoyed making an obstacle course which he began coding his Sphero to go through. I can’t wait to see all the discoveries you make in coding this term, Harshith!

Summer C. - 3/4K

This award goes to Summer for the outstanding effort she displayed in Coding this week. She was a terrific teammate and used out-of-the-box thinking when trying to code their sphero through an obstacle course. Summer showed excellent determination when the sphero kept deciding to go in the wrong direction! Keep up the positive attitude, Summer!

Hayley W. - 3/4S

This award is presented to Hayley for the fantastic improvement she is making with her reading this year. Hayley is reading more challenging texts with fluency and she is able to discuss and answer questions about the story. Hayley, it is wonderful listening to you read and watching you enjoy books.

Aiden C. - 5/6F

This award goes to Aiden for displaying the Scoresby HEART value of excellence. He wrote wonderful haiku poems while he was away inspired by nature. Aiden presented these to the class in clear voice making sure to introduce each poem. He continued this great work in the classroom by writing haiku poems inspired by significant events in his life. Aiden should be very proud of his achievements!

Cooper D. - 5/6M

This award is presented to Cooper for the interest he has taken in our unit on Poetry. Cooper has demonstrated his understanding of the various forms of poetry and I was particularly  impressed with the  blackout poem he created recently. Cooper is to be congratulated on the enthusiasm he shows in all areas of his learning.

This award goes to Indi for her ongoing commitment to her learning. She carefully follows all instructions and demonstrates a hardworking and persistent attitude across all areas of the curriculum. Wonderful effort Indi! You have made a fantastic start to Term 3!

Indiana W. - Visual Arts

This award goes to Indiana for her fantastic soft pastel portrait. Students in 5/6 are exploring portraiture using realistic facial features and proportions. Indi practised new techniques with enthusiasm and diligence. She did a fabulous job drawing the eyes! Well done Indi!

Harmony C. - Performing Arts

This award goes to Harmony for her progress and commitment learning the ukulele. Harmony, the practice that you are doing at home is fantastic. You should join the assembly band soon. Well done!

Wil S. - Physical Education

This award goes to Wil for the enthusiasm he has shown when participating in Jump Rope for Heart this term. This week, Wil tried very hard and successfully mastered the “Skier” skipping move. He performed this trick in front of his class and gave them tips on how to do it. Great work Wil!

Kirk W. - Mandarin

This award acknowledges Kirk for his enthusiasm in Mandarin class. Kirk has just arrived at Scoresby PS and on his first Mandarin lesson he fit right in, having a go at getting up and introducing himself. Great start, Kirk!
