Basketball News

It is an important time for basketball as we near the end of this current season.  Already this term, we are starting to plan teams for the new season beginning in Term Four. I can also announce that Simone Brabham and I will be stepping down as Head of Junior and Senior Basketball respectively at the end of this season.  It has been a thrill to see the boys and girls grow in their love for the game and I thank you all for your support.

Moving forward the College now seeks a new Head of Basketball from our parent/wider Hamilton community self for 2023. This will be a paid position and the exact details are currently being finalised by the school. If you are potentially interested and would like more information, please contact either Leigh Alexander or Andrew Hirst at the school.

Also, all current players and their parents should be having conversations and thinking about their intentions for the spring/summer season if they will be playing juniors and/or seniors. Simone and I will need this information by Tuesday 9 August at the latest or earlier if possible. Forms will be sent out via email to students this week to be completed and returned. Please note that for all junior divisions TOP AGE players will move up a division for the next season as per BVC regulations and age groups.

Football

The first two weeks of term has seen some interschool football opportunities for both of our junior boys and girls teams. Both teams enjoyed playing together with their school mates and showed individual and team improvement. Thanks must go to the Football Captains – Micaela Meyer, Harry Mahar and Fletcher Bright who coached on the days and Mr Rymarz and Mrs Malseed for attending and overseeing everything.

Cross Country

This week, the ICCES Cross Country event was held at Bundoora Park in Melbourne. A full report will appear from the Captains in next week’s edition.

In other running news we congratulate our female Cross Country Captain Poppy Austin who participated last weekend in the All Schools Cross Country event in Melbourne. Poppy had a fabulous run and came 2nd in the U20 Female Age Group. This sees her qualify to try out for the National team next month in Adelaide. Congratulations Poppy and this is a great reward for all of your commitments to training over a long period now.
