On September 13 and 14 the College will welcome Bill Jennings back to Austins Ferry to run two significant evenings for Mums, Dad and/or special loved ones. Bill will facilitate a unique 'Time and Space' experience for parents and their sons in order to give them time and space to set up for a successful journey together through your son’s adolescent years. Please see below details regarding these two important evenings, with further details to come.
Date: Tuesday Stember 13
Time: 6:45-9:15pm
Venue: JPC
This rare opportunity will stay with mothers forever. It is a big thing when our boys move through their times of transition. Their teenage years accelerate quickly as their ride on the adolescent rollercoaster continues. Your son is growing up and the opportunity to reflect on the joys and challenges of this time in yours and his life, is one not to be missed.
Date: Wednesday September 14
Time: 6:45-9:15pm
Venue: JPC
This rare opportunity will stay with fathers forever. Media attention often feasts on the reality that some famous sportsmen and celebrities fall short of being good ‘role-models’ to our boys… but we are confident that the best role-models are much closer to home. ‘Stepping Up’ taps the very best resources in our own College community… the dads (or grandfathers, older brothers or uncles) of our boys. Be part of this innovative single evening programme that gives a signpost to each boy about the best ways he can ‘step up’ to be a good man.
As a College, we unequivocally do not stand for any form of bullying. Our students are constantly reminded of and encouraged to use our online system for reporting incidences of bullying. This report form can be accessed on Simon. It is important to note how to approach bullying and to not use the same tactics in which we were not happy to receive ourselves. We encourage our boys to support one another and to speak with our staff so we can ensure this behaviour does not continue.
Shortly parents will receive some communication regarding the storage of bicycles at our campus. This applies to boys who ride to school regularly each morning or for those keen mountain bikers on a Thursday afternoon. For further questions and queries please see Mr Steven Aitken regarding the circulated information.
As we approach the return of Year 11 and 12, it is timely to review and assess the ways in which we deliver pastoral care. Pastoral care ensures the wellbeing of each student is met to its absolute fullest. Our pastoral care network provides a means of accessing support. I am encouraging parents to make contact with their son’s PC teacher as the necessary starting boy in seeking clarification, troubleshooting any concerns, or needing support in any area. As we review and refine it is important to gather the views of our community. Shortly we will circulate a survey to gather this important feedback.
