Following the successful Choomalaka Festival last year, the event is set to return bigger and better this year on Friday September 23 2022, at the Austins Ferry campus.
Junior and senior students will once again be showcasing their artistic talents with performances of stage and concert bands, choirs, solo artists, light and movement installations and a series of drama productions.
In addition to the wonderful entertainment there will be an array of delicious food and beverages available to fill and warm the bellies on a cool Tasmanian spring evening.
The P&F are seeking volunteers to assist with food and beverage stalls for this event. If you are available for any period of time between 5:00pm and 8:00pm, please visit the SVC > Parents & Friends Association web page to register your interest:

Teachers’ Dinner (Senior School)
As part of the College Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences on Monday July 25, the Senior School P&F hosted a dinner for over 35 teaching staff at the Austins Ferry campus.
The P&F Teachers’ Dinners are held twice a year and have become a proud tradition for committee members and volunteers. The dinner provides an opportunity for teaching staff to take a short break, sit down together and enjoy a home cooked meal.
It is also a fantastic forum for new parents, carers and friends to connect with the College, engage with staff and meet other P&F members and volunteers.
Thank you to Trudi Baer (SVC Food Tech) and College staff for their continued support of this event, and a special thank you to the following committee members and new volunteers for your time and presence. It is greatly appreciated:

Mary Rice Day
On Friday 1 July, St Virgil’s staff, students, P&F committee members and volunteers came together to cook a traditional African ‘Maharagwe Mchele Mkate’ (bean rice bread) dish for students and staff as part of the St Virgil’s Mary Rice Day.
A total of 30 people filled the Food Tech kitchen between 9:00am and 12:30pm (at various times) actively chopping, grating, stirring, cooking, cleaning, preparing equipment and serving plates.
Throughout the morning staff, students and volunteers prepared and cooked 12 large pots of ‘Maharagwe’ (bean) and 20 kilos of ‘Mchele’ (rice). At lunch time across 2 stations, over 950 students and staff were served a hearty Maharagwe Mchele Mkate dish.
Thank you to the following for your amazing support, time and effort to create a successful and wonderful experience:
