Boarding News

Hannah Whittemore, Acting Head of Boarding

We were delighted to have our boarders back in the boarding community for a busy Term 3 and already there have been a number of exciting activities. Our first week back kicked off with the incredible Guys and Dolls musical production; the boarders were treated to a sneak peek on Thursday evening and I congratulate all students, particularly the boarders, on what was a truly outstanding show. Our first weekend back was celebrated with 'Christmas in July' with a fantastic Christmas dinner, Christmas movies with hot chocolate, some traditional Christmas games and our first Boarders' Church service for some time.

Hot Meals Outreach

As part of our weekend activities program, and after a long break due to COVID protocols, we are very pleased to be able to resume our participation in the Orange Uniting Church Hot Meals Outreach program this term.  Each Saturday evening a small group of volunteer girls and boys attend the Outreach kitchen and assist with the preparation and distribution of hot take-away food to less fortunate members of the Orange community.  Those students who have already participated in the program have enjoyed the experience of helping others and serving their community.

Boarding Events

In exciting news, many of you will have been advised of upcoming house dinners and get-togethers. We are all looking forward to the opportunity to be able to renew old acquaintances and make new friends in the boarding community after such a long time apart.  We are also hoping to host a Boarding Parents Drinks event in September to welcome the new Head of Boy's Boarding, Matt Byrne.  Details for this event will be finalised shortly.

Special Arrangements for Year 12 Retreat

A reminder for current Year 11 parents that the Class of 2023 Year 12 Retreat will be held this year at the start of Term 4. Students will be leaving for Lake Burrendong at 8.00am on Monday 10 October. This is traditionally a Boarders' Travel Day, however to accommodate the Retreat, Boarding Houses will open at 3pm on Sunday 9 October for Year 12 2023 students only.
