U9 Taipans vs Waratahs 23.7.22
It was a cool, crisp, sunny day at Waratah’s Field 13. Being cold blooded, us taipans needed some time in the morning sun to be deadly and the 11:30am start helped here.
We weren’t sure at full time if it was a draw or whether one team narrowly beat the other, but both teams scored several goals in a great and evenly matched game. Goalkeepers were Sophia Martin and myself. Playing goalkeeper is 99% boring and 1% terrifying when the whole team is counting on me. Most of the action happened in the first half, maybe everyone ate too many oranges at half time! The occasional red AFL ball falling from the sky among us from the next field added excitement.
I think the other team had a player who looked like he should have been in the under 15’s, who scored a great goal. Special mention to our scorers Tom, Finlay, and someone else I couldn’t quite see from the goalbox.
Well done everybody!
