ST JOSEPH'S COLLEGE VTAC/SATAC PRESENTATIONS

St Joseph’s College is aware that many students and their families may feel overwhelmed by the process of navigating post Year 12 study options and making applications to the relevant state admissions centres.

The college will host two presentations to assist students and their families with the application process. If you would like guidance, or simply need reassurance, when making applications to the relevant state admission centres, please feel free to attend the following information session:

  • Student and Family VTAC/SATAC Presentation, Monday, August 8, 5:30 – 7:30pm

The workshop will include information about the role of the admission centre, how to apply for courses, Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS), scholarships and assist with other supporting documentation that may be required for the application.

For more information, please check PAM for details.

Please also refer to alternate VTAC run presentations at https://www.vtac.edu.au/events

LA TROBE UNIVERSITY YEAR 12 PRESENTATION

On Thursday, August 11 there will be an opportunity to speak with our local future student advisors. The presentation will be around Aspire applications, ordering of preferences, pathways and scholarships.

If there is anything further you would like covered, please let Ms Dimasi know.

FLINDERS UNIVERSITY

Flinders University will once again be offering uniTEST to current Year 12 students as an entry pathway for 2023.

uniTEST is an aptitude test that has been developed to assess the kinds of generic reasoning and thinking skills that underpin studies at higher education and that are needed for students to be successful at this level. uniTEST is offered to students at no cost and they cannot be disadvantaged by participating.

SELECTION PROCESS

Flinders University will select applicants based on both Year 12 results (60% weighting toward the ATAR selection rank) and uniTEST results (40%). Flinders will also consider applicants based on uniTEST results (100%) as a standalone entry score (subject to SACE completion and any course pre-requisites or specific admissions requirements).

PARTICIPATION

In 2021, almost 2000 students took part in Flinders UniTEST. Participation led to offers in courses across the university, including popular courses such as Law, Psychology, Medical Science, Nutrition & Dietetics, Paramedic Science, and Speech Pathology.

DELIVERY MODE

The college will administer the online delivery of uniTEST, under examination conditions, on Wednesday, August 31at 2:00 - 5:30pm in Q5.

HOW TO REGISTER

To confirm your registration to sit the Flinders’ University uniTEST, please contact Ms Fiona Dimasi, Careers Practitioner via email fdimasi@sjcmda.vic.edu.au with the following information:

  • Date of Birth
  • SATC ID number (students will only have this number if you have registered course preferences through SATAC – can be added later)
  • Personal email account (other than your school email account)
  • Residential suburb and postcode.

Work experience is the short-term placement of students with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. Students are encouraged to organise their own work experience placement early so that they have the greatest chance of securing their place of choice.

It provides students with the valuable opportunity to:

  • Develop employability skills.
  • Explore possible career options.
  • Understand employer expectations.
  • Increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence, and self-confidence.
