FRENCH

Bonjour à tous!

J'espère que vous allez tous très bien (I hope you are all doing very well).

It's hard to believe it is almost the end of term 1 ... Le temps passe vite (time flies)!

The Preps have had a fantastic start to the year. Thanks to their lovely teacher, Ms Lee, who reinforces each day in her class the vocabulary learnt in French, they all know most of their French colours already. Congratulations to all the Preps!

Here is a little colour quiz for you all to practice at home. For each word, you have to put the letters in the right order to find the French word ...

All other grades have done revisions all Term. The students love playing the new board game and love to compete to get Dojo Points. To move along the board, the teams have to answer questions related to the topic they are revising in class. The following photos show you students in Grade 1/2C, playing to memorise numbers between 0 and 20.

Other activities such as online lessons and games (e.g. 'hangman'), 'find the missing letters', 'write the French number', etc. also enable them to memorise the vocabulary in a fun way. Afterwards they record the words in their notebooks. These games are always played in teams so that the less confident students are encouraged by their teammates and can learn from them.

In Grades 2/3, 3/4 and 5/6s, the students get regular French homework and have been assessed in class. I strongly recommend that parents encourage them to do their homework. It is usually a list of 10 words learnt in class that they have to memorise for the following week. Most students enjoy doing their homework and are very proud to get good scores and extra Dojo Points for their excellent work. However, the students who decide not to do their homework tend to fall behind very quickly  and can't participate as well in the class activities as they can't answer the questions.

C'est tout pour aujourd'hui (that's it for today).

Bonne semaine et à bientôt (Have a nice week and talk to you soon),

Delphine
