SAKG Update

This week in kitchen and garden Prep/1 and 1/2C had so much fun visiting the chickens, learning the proper care and cleaning needed to nurture our lovely feathery residents.  In the kitchen we discussed different ingredients we are growing and what they look like including zucchini, eggplant and basil.

We discussed how to maintain hygiene when cooking, washing our hands properly, not touching our faces sneeze or cough into your shoulder or elbow. They were all superstars at achieving this throughout the lesson!

 

For this lesson we cooked vegetable lasagne, zucchini and fig salad and banana plum muffins. We explored different tastes and textures by talking about what they like and don’t like, but also how we can alter how we prepare food to make it tastier to the individual.  For example, if something is sour, adjust the sweetness, or if something is strange or new in texture, prepare the ingredient in a different manner.
