Welcome to Parent Corner

If you are unfamiliar with the format of the Parent Corner newsletter, I invite you to indulge and skim through what is available to you.  Through Parent Corner we aim to provide useful tips and information on how best to support your child on their journey as an adolescent at Mount Alvernia.

Each edition will have a snapshot from the Pastoral Guardians about what’s been happening in their assigned year levels.  At times they may make mention of not-so-popular trends that are beginning to surface and provide tips on how to manage them.  They will also highlight the wonderful achievements of individuals and groups, and finish their sections with some conversation starters that will enable you to gain answers from your child relevant to the everyday.  This week the PGs will focus on New Beginnings, which has a great connection to the Hot Topic mentioned later.

This year we will return to addressing Hot Topics as a central focus on trends or issues that may be surfacing.  The content of the Hot Topics will be based on the research in the area and from some practical advice from our Pastoral Care team who will use their vast experience to provide options to consider.
