Catholic Identity

                                        Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at

St. Mary’s.  It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a

                                                                   Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

The Easter Story  -

Our presentation of the Easter Story at the end of term was once again  a very powerful portrayal of the events of Holy Week.  This  whole school presentation involved all students in either acting, liturgical dance or singing roles.

Congratulations to everyone on the respectful and sincere way you carried out your various parts of the story and to the teachers who put so much effort and planning into this special event on our school calendar.

Project Compassion-

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful support of Project  Compassion during last term.  We are now finalising our donation to be sent off to Caritas.  If any family still has an individual collection box at home could this please be sent into school with your child or dropped off at the Office.

Our Social Justice Leadership Team is co-ordinating our Project Compassion campaign.  Our total so far is $ 1745.80.    We are hoping to make our target of $2000 with our final collection of the home boxes.

Parish Family Mass -  Sunday 5th May at 10am

The Parish Mass on Sunday the 5th May will be a special  Family Mass and we invite all our families to come along and join in this celebration.  The Senior Unit will be organising the various jobs but would love to see lots of our students there to help with the singing and responses.

Mother's Day Mass

Please put  Friday 10th May into your diary for the very special celebration of our Mother's Day Mass.

Further information will come out after the holidays, asking for people to assist and be involved in the liturgy.  I am asking for families to send in a photo of "mum and her children" (no larger than 6" x 4") for a display on the day.  If you don't have a photo you can email one to mlee@smmooroopna.catholic.edu.au

This year we will be celebrating the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.

Confirmation will be for children in Grade Six who have previously made their Reconciliation and Eucharist.  This Sacrament will be celebrated on Sunday 1st September at 11.30am by Bishop Leslie Tomlinson.  (Please note this is a change of date)

First Eucharist will take place on Sunday 24th November for children who have currently commenced their sacramental journey and made their Reconciliation.
