ConnecTED Learning - English

In TED-E we recently celebrated the creativity, teamwork and bravery of our students with our first ever poetry slam event that we called, ‘Speak your Voice’. The event was held on the last lesson of Term 2 and students had the opportunity to perform their spoken word poetry for the Year 7 cohort and the guest judges (one of whom was Mr Shaun Ellis, the KLA Leader of English). The students’ poetry and performances were so strong that we had to devise a last-minute tiebreaker with Anna-Rose Johnson-Tanson, Gypsy McDonnell, Holly Stewart, Madeline Pearce, Tara Cook, Evie Mugavin emerging as our champions.

Congratulations to all of our participants and particularly our winners.

ConnecTED Learning - Geography

Semester 2 marks the beginning of the switch from History to Geography in HSIE. Students have been extremely enthusiastic about learning about the landscapes in our world and how they are formed, especially when we looked at how plate tectonics worked using Oreo cookies that they were able to eat afterwards! We look forward to sharing some of the David Attenborough style documentaries they will create to showcase their learning at the end of the term.

ConnecTED Learning - Religious Education

Term 3 has begun with a flurry of activity as we commence our 10 week long inquiry focus on Belief, Practice and Prayer. This unit has been designed to build each students' foundational knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith, delving deep into three areas; Where do our beliefs as Catholics come from? How do we outwardly express our beliefs as Catholics? And how do we reflect on our lives and communicate with God? Incorporating contemporary pedagogy, we are using CANVAS as our platform for learning and teaching and students are thoroughly enjoying exploring new technologies and their application to Religious Education.
