The Prep students were excited to come back to school on Wednesday and share their remote learning experiences.

They have also been discussing the Olympics and watching the progress of Australian athletes and the athletes of their class country as well.

It has been very exciting to cheer on the teams of so many different sports!

Thanks

Year 1

In week 2 and 3 we used Seesaw to participate in learning from home.

Here are some comments from students about how engaging it was for the students.

“ Seesaw is really good and I like the activities because they are fun.  I really enjoyed the PE: dancing activities.” Zehra

“ The Seesaw tasks  were really good  because you had to go online and do the activities. The teachers showed us how to do the activities.” Kingston

“ I like Seesaw because  I saw the  Just Dance activity  and I could show my moves” Kayla

I love Seesaw because I like the Initial Lit, Writing and Maths tasks. I liked using the tens frames with my numbers”. Jordan

Thanks

Year 2

Last Friday the 23rd of July was the start of the Tokyo Olympic Games 2021 and unfortunately, we were unable to launch our own games at school. We are hopeful that the closing ceremony will take place at the college when we return from lockdown. Just a reminder of the teams we are following: 2A China, 2B Poland, 2C Colombia, 2D Brazil and of course we are all following Australia!    Go Aussies!

We have been thrilled with way the Year 2 students and families have responded with using Seesaw during remote learning and are experimenting with tools to complete their class work.

A big thank you to parents who have persevered with their children through this process. Year 2 students had started to use this program at school but i’s launch was brought forward sooner than expected due to lockdown 5.

Looking at the positives this has meant that their teachers have not had to wait until we return to school to give students feedback on their work and students have had the opportunity to learn more about using Seesaw.

In Maths we have been learning about Location – students have been having a lot of fun creating their own maps of rooms in their houses and giving and following directions. We looked at the compass rose and thought of our own sayings to remember North South East and West. This week we are starting our new unit on Chance and Data which includes creating and asking appropriate questions, collecting data, reading and interpreting data. Don’t forget Mathletics is a fun way to get some extra math’s practice in at home.

In Literacy, for reading, we have been looking at the comprehension strategy of inferring. This week’s learning goals are to read fluently and to infer the meanings of words when reading by looking for clues in the text. We encourage students to use the books found on Reading Eggs to supplement their home reading.

In writing we have been writing narratives including a beginning, middle and end. A focus has been on proof reading our work to check that it makes sense, to correct any punctuation and the correct use of capital and lowercase letters.

Look forward to seeing you all again soon.
