Writing


In Writing, students will continue their development as writers with a focus on the genre of narratives. Students will think of themselves as writers, choose topics that are important to them and maintain a focus on the purpose of their writing and how to write for an audience. Students will be expected to follow the 5 stages of writing (Rehearsing, Composing, Revising, Editing and Publishing) to complete a writing piece.

 

This Term, we will add our individual Spelling program to Word Study. Students will source their own spelling words from their writing and will practise these words daily at school.

 

This term students will:

 

Grade One and Two

  • Create a range of texts that show emerging use of appropriate text structure and features and use vocabulary specific to the topic and mode.
  • Reread writing and revise by adding, deleting or changing parts of their text to improve meaning and make it more interesting for the reader.
  • See themselves as part of a community of writers who give and receive feedback from others and consider possible changes to a writing piece.
