Reading

In Reading, students will be developing their comprehension skills through daily Independent Reading, working in small reading groups and regular conferencing with their classroom teacher. The students will focus on the comprehension strategies of visualising/inferring and making connections using narrative texts.

Home reading is invaluable to your child’s reading development. As some students are reading longer texts, with more words, you may like to read only some of the pages every night. It is not expected that an entire book will be read every night. It is important to spend time talking about the book. Your child could talk about what happened in the book, about the characters, new facts learnt, new vocabulary or share their opinion of the book. Please encourage your child to share their reading goal with you.
