Shape Your Destiny

Success in supporting our students to shape their destiny

In the coming weeks our year 10 will be making some very important decisions about the next steps in their educational pathway. These include their long-term goals and working backwards to select appropriate programs and subjects.

The school has a very rich 3-day Career Awareness program for our year 10 students as well as working with external providers (Success Integrated) to further our students in making informed decision and empower them to make life shaping choices about their future and their pathways.

Last Tuesday, 13th July, our year 10 students took part in a workshop that supported them to:

  • try to remove student confusion and uncertainty about their future by aligning their passions, talents and ideals to a pathway best suited to them
  •  set written and specific goals to give students focus and direction at school and beyond
  • take students through a process that aligns to their personality and career profiles.

Student feedback was very positive:

“I really gained clarity on my passions, talents and career path. I loved the idea of play to get paid. That definitely gave me a new perspective. Thoroughly enjoyed the energy and enthusiasm in this seminar! Thank you so much!” – Julian

“I gained a new perspective from the ‘vehicle’ metaphor and being able to know and identify the environment you are compatible to.” – Leilani

“I gained/learnt that I shouldn’t listen to what everyone tells me to do. That I am writing my own story, not someone else’s idea of me.” – Adrijana

“I learnt that I should do what I’m good at and to follow my passions and talents and not follow what others influence me to do.” – Anonymous

“I have learnt to be confident and not put myself in a headspace where I feel like giving up. I have also learnt to recognise my talents and put them to use.” – Kiara

“This helped me identify more of my talents that I can continue to perfect and possibly use to direct me to a career.” – Anonymous

Good Luck to all our year 10 students in making some important decisions in the next few weeks.
