Year 7 'Mighty Ducks' Badminton

On Tuesday 13th July, the Year 7 Mighty Ducks squad ventured out for the Inter-school badminton competition. It was a most enjoyable day, with many students making new friends whilst learning a new sporting skill. The boys’ team were lucky enough to go through to Region Finals, winning all four of their games. These finals will be played on the 25th August against the best of 64 schools. The girls’ team only just missed out by several points but had great overall improvement throughout the day.

So far, the Mighty Ducks Badminton Squad has had some fantastic overall results, with 7 of the 8 teams going through to the next round. This could possibly be a first ever in the school’s history, along with the highest student participation we’ve ever had. Hopefully with some solid team spirited efforts, all students and teams can achieve their very best.  There could be exciting times on the horizon as these several teams vie to compete for the opportunity to make it to State Finals. Stay tuned folks!

On the second day of Term 3, the Year 7 Girls’ Netball competition that was postponed last term was able to be played. They had 6 matches to play on the day against other schools in the Whittlesea Division. They played the first 5 games and won all of them comfortably. The last game they played was against Hazel Glen, who had also won all of their first 5 games. This meant that this game was the decider to see which school would go through to the next round of the competition. Unfortunately, Epping did not manage to win this game placing them second on the ladder. All the girls played well and had a fabulous day at the stadium. Well done Girls!

Year 7 Boys' Soccer

The Year 7 Boys’ Soccer team also had their matches rearranged for day 2 of Term 3. They travelled to Mill Park Secondary College on a fairly windy day to play against Mernda, Mill Park and Hazel Glen. They started their first game with a 6-0 victory against Hazel Glen and went into their second game against Mernda with a clean sheet. They played Mernda ‘off the park’ also beating them 6-0. The last game was against Mill Park who had also had two wins under their belt, so this was the deciding game to take one team through to the NMR round. Unfortunately, Epping narrowly missed out and lost to Mill Park. What a fantastic day for the boys finishing second on the day, well done!

Senior Boys' Netball

The Senior Boys’ Netball Team also travelled to Mill Park Stadium to play against 4 other teams in the Whittlesea Division. They started the day playing against Hazel Glen, followed by Mernda, Whittlesea and Mill Park. The boys won all four games comfortably taking them through to the NMR round. This was due to be played on Wednesday 21st July but will now be postponed to a later date. Well done boys and good luck in the next round!
