Currently, 1D students are investigating the Inquiry question, “How do we express ourselves?” through experimentation of the different forms of The Arts such as; Dance, Drama, Music and Art. 

Students inquired into each of The Arts through exploring how they form personal connections to their preferred mode. 

Oscar “I experienced success at the Music station!”

Corban – “I felt calm and relaxed whilst I was drawing at the art station!”

As the Olympic Games are on, students deepened their understanding of how athletes prepare themselves for their event and perform during their event through analyzing their body language and facial expressions. They mimed and acted out various sporting events to challenge their perspectives and understanding of the emotions professional athletes feel. 

Jared -  “I am puffing my cheeks to show I am blowing out air when I am swimming!”

Rishi – “I am bending down and using my arms to help me launch to get a longer distance in long jump!”

Sanidhya – “I am squatting down and tensing my body to prepare to lift the weight over my head” 

Raneth –“I am pointing my hands to show I am shooting a goal in basketball.” 

Eva – “I am moving my hands to show that I am dribbling the ball. 

Students explored how to embody facial expression and body language through performance and self-expression to transfer these skills to the exciting Production Class Dance “I Like to Move It”.
