From Vic LLEN – ‘Come to work with me’ series
Victorian Local Learning and Employment Networks (VicLLENs) and DET have teamed up to deliver a series of bite-sized, Q&A style webinars, featuring employers and employees spanning across several different industries.
Students will have exposure to an insider’s perspective on what ‘a day in the life’ might look like across a variety of different workplaces. The 15-minute sessions will be live-streamed as a Zoom webinar and via Facebook, during which students will have the opportunity to ask questions in the chat.
To tune in to the webinar, students can simply click on the Zoom or Facebook Link below (no registration is required) or watch the recorded sessions available on demand.
Please note: at no time during the webinar will students be heard or be visible on screen. All questions submitted by students will be via the Zoom chat function only.
From VCAA – Senior Secondary Reform
Course selection in 2022 will not change, but from 2023 the new senior secondary certificate reform will take affect with a transition arrangement for Year 12 students completing Senior VCAL in 2023.
Interested students, parents and education staff who would like to have information and/or input into the design of these new certificates are encouraged to check out the following link.

From VTAC – Online resources and Community Briefing
VTAC Community Information Briefing “Your guide to applying for tertiary study in Victoria webinar for Students, parents and the community” in the form of a Webinar 12 August from 7-8pm.
Year 12 students will receive a VTAC briefing on 29 July. But any student, staff, parent/carer can access the Community Briefing Webinar (see Tertiary Updates section).

The VTAC Year 10 Guide assists students in choosing senior secondary studies for the right reason. It contains information about researching tertiary education, choosing senior secondary subjects, and how the ATAR is calculated.
ATAR rules and restrictions for current Year 10 students (i.e. those receiving an ATAR in two years’ time) will be available in the VTAC Guide to the ATAR and Scaling each year.
The VTAC Year 11 Guide provides information about researching tertiary education, choosing year 12 studies, and understanding the ATAR.
The VTAC Year 12 Guide provides information about researching tertiary courses, including meeting course requirements, and a guide through the stages of the VTAC application process, including applying for courses, SEAS, and Scholarships.

Planning on studying teaching in the future?
If you are planning on applying for an undergraduate education degree in the future, you will need to be aware of selection criteria for each state.
Victorian courses
- Achieve a minimum ATAR of 70: Some universities will require a higher ATAR. You may be able to access entry into courses with a lower ATAR if you are eligible for ATAR adjustment factors.
- Register and complete the Casper test: this is an online video-based situational judgment test. The test is designed to measure ethics, empathy and communication (selected universities will require this). More information is available at Altus - Casper.
- Achieve prerequisites: meet the requirements for prerequisite subjects.
TIS – Tertiary Information Service
TIS hold community events to assist senior students with tertiary information and the applications process. We were unable to attend, but they have worked to update and produce a range of helpful resources which are suited to Year 10, 11 and 12 students:
