Together We Did It!

College Resumes for Senior Students Next Week

Hello everyone,

The light is now really at the end of the tunnel and as I moved around our college today I was thinking how much more exciting it will be to have our staff and students bringing the learning to life. Classes commence as normal at 8.50 am on Tuesday May 26th for our senior students and we can’t wait to see you all in real time.

Appropriate arrangements have been put in place for everyone and especially for those adults working together so that they are able to practice social distancing routines appropriate for schools. This has required us to temporarily relocate 56 staff members throughout the college, with the majority being temporarily relocated to the Hall for the remainder of term 2.

Hand washing, sanitising and sensible personal hygiene are the ways in which everyone can take responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of both themselves and others whilst they are onsite at Ringwood Secondary College. I have also included some practical tips for those of you using public transport when travelling to and from school.

Although the reality of the Coronavirus is ongoing, we are all experiencing various levels of transition across Australia. Whilst many children and our students may be excited at the prospect of lockdown restrictions being lifted, others may feel mixed emotions. As we adjust to new routines, keeping a check on our young people’s mental health and wellbeing will be vitally important. In this attached Special Report, we share a few ideas to help ease this time of transition and adjustment.

Here is the link and I hope that you find it useful.

Take care everyone and remember to wash your hands or sanitise often.

A Heartfelt Thank You to  All

Thank you to all staff, parents and carers!

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all staff, parents and carers who have worked so hard in over the past few months to generate a safe, constructive remote and flexible learning environment for students, sons and daughters.

It takes great strength and resilience to support each other throughout this challenging time. By providing creative opportunities for children to experience learning through real world application of knowledge, as well as helping them build resilience through use of their character strengths to develop possibilities for themselves and others, has been wonderful to witness.

We can take our learnings into the future by creating a narrative of this time by way of collecting thoughts, stories, poems, photos and videos. Creation of an everlasting memory that celebrates the surprising finds and wonderful community spirit could be archived for posterity and become a reflective tool for building a better future.

I wish you all the best wishes for the remaining weeks of term. I encourage you to employ some mindful self-compassion and celebrate the transitional return to a school and work life.
