The weather is hot, and the Riders/ Racers keep on coming!

The 3/6/12 Hour MTB Enduro sponsored by St Philip's went off on the 4th of March with a majority of the riders being juniors and many of them being Dusty Demons. It was a fun night with the Night Owls having their glow-in-the-dark team shirts with custom names being a real hit on the night when 65 racers taking to the course. Unfortunately, a few didn't make the start line for one reason or another but those committed riders and their chaperones had a fun night of social MTB riding. Obviously, there were a few that smashed themselves once their family commitments had ended. Check out the results for more information specifically around the sheer number of laps of the 6.7km course. Some excitement happened several times as the power seemed to trip out and the arch started to collapse. Many thanks to the speedy assistance from the many hands that helped get riders through safely during this time.

On the night it was agreed that the few in the 12 hr might better use their energy in the 6-hour format with a select few crashing into swags around 1:30am. Bacon and eggs managed to help raise a few heads in the morning for the pack-up.

Big thanks to us here at St Philip's College for Sponsoring the event with water bottles and jerseys given out throughout the night. Also, thanks to those that helped throughout the event: George Landy; Sarah Holder at Registrations; Amy Stenniken and Stacey Gill for placing the boards across the river so well that they didn't need to be adjusted at all during the race; Simon for cooking breakfast; Lydia and Hamish who staffed the pasta and meals for the night, with any proceeds going back to the Mittagundi Outdoor Centre; Emma Shearer for sorting the results out from QLD while in transit back to Alice Springs and Parks NT for getting the course slashed to assist in safety and the ability to see the course.

Mainly a shoutout to the riders who took part and made it happen safely with a great attitude and event vibe. Incidentally, the only items of rubbish on the course were a broken earring and a full Gel which suggests an accidental drop mid-race, so you are all awesome at looking after the environment.

MTB Academy and MTB Ex-activity are also humming along with great turnouts and many trails ridden you can keep up to date on Schoolbox. Click HERE  or see the staff Strava files of where we ride by clicking HERE

Please be aware that both Emma Shearer and Dave Atkins will be away from MTB activities in Week 8 as they will be at Mt Arapiles Climbing in Western Victoria.

What's on in Alice Riding and Racing?

Happy Riding over the weekend
