Careers in Sport Expo at Carlton College of Sport

Senior students interested in a future career in sport attended the inaugural ‘Careers in Sport Expo’ hosted at the Carlton College of Sport at Ikon Park in March. Industry representatives from a range of different sporting codes and organisations were on hand to talk to students including some presentations and interactions.  Thank you to James Agombar for accompanying the students.  We will look for this event in future years to help showcase the range of diverse opportunities in the sports industry.

Can You Host a Year 10 Work Experience Student?

Year 10 students have been working on Occupational Health and Safety modules in class to be prepared for their upcoming Work Experience.  Students are encouraged to think about possible placements and begin to approach relevant host organisations.

The two-week block is confirmed for Monday, 17 July through to Friday 28 July 2023.

We’re seeking assistance from parents and guardians to be on the look out for possible hosts!  If your employer is happy to host one of our students, or if you have connections to another organisation who would host one of our students, please forward the Expression of Interest link to them!

The Trades Fit: Young Women in Trades and Tech - Expressions of Interest

The Trades Fit is an expo hosted by the Department of Education for female and non-binary students in years 9-12.

The expo allows students to experience exciting career opportunities in traditionally male-dominated fields, through interactive experiences and conversation with industry, in a way that focuses on their perspectives.

The expo will take place on 10 and 11 May 2023.

If you are female or non-binary and are still exploring careers or have an interest in a future career in trades or tech, you’re encouraged to attend.

To attend the expo please express your interest to your Home Group teacher or Rhonda as soon as possible.

Attendees from last year (including the teachers!) had an awesome experience.

Career Insights (Morrisby) Day

Year 9 students recently completed the Career Insights (Morrisby) program which required them to complete  a  series of online quizzes/assessments to help identify strengths and interests, and find career and study options based on their responses. This was a great day in the library with group activities and brain-breaks including career jokes, origami and ABC career brainstorms!

Students then met with a careers consultant the following week who went through the generated report so that students could interpret the information correctly and ask questions.  It was lovely to see a number of parents also attend the interviews.
