Harmony Week – Postcards to Chinese Sister Schools Workshop

When was the last time you wrote a postcard to someone living far away from you? Did you write it to a close friend or a stranger? Celebrating Harmony Week, our primary and secondary school students are giving our sister schools in China a big and lovely surprise! These postcards with warm greetings and blessings as well as beautiful decoration will be posted to China very soon. We hope our friends in China are well and we could meet them again in the future.

Year 9 Global Youth Forum

Recently, a group of our Year 9 students has been selected to take part in the virtual program “Victorian Young Leaders: Global Youth Forums 2023”, an initiative of the Victorian Department of Education. The theme for this year is 'Reimagining Education'. In this program, students work across Victorian schools with their international student peers to critically discuss concepts of global citizenship and identity, investigate global challenges facing the international community, exercise design thinking to generate ideas to these challenges, and undertake a collaborative group design challenge that seeks to prototype a solution.

Our students believe a positive wellbeing is very important to every one of us. After careful consideration, they decided to tackle the issue – vaping – for our local community because it has become a serious problem, affecting student health and growth. Our students have presented their action plan in the forums and received feedback from their peers, teachers, as well as experts from the education field. Their great excitement for bringing the plan to life and being the change for our society demonstrates the caring nature of our Collingwood students.
