Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

On Tuesday evening, 14 of our Year 4s celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation with their families, teachers, Fr Chinua and Fr Jude.  I would like to thank the students, Mr Brendan and Miss Vanessa for the effort undertaken in the preparation for this sacrament. While most of the sacramental learning is at school, we always rely on our parents and carers to support the candidates by making a commitment to going to mass, practising the sacramental prayers and talking to the children about what they are learning. So, I would also like to express my gratitude to the Year 4 families for reinforcing these expectations at home.  The children will begin  preparation for First Communion next term.

This morning several parents mentioned how special they found the celebration and commented on the lovely atmosphere. I am so thankful for Fr Chinua who  always ensures these events are a beautiful experience in which the children can engage with a sense of joyful understanding.

Our final Term 1, Wednesday Morning Whole School Prayer was this morning and it was great to see the parents and younger siblings who were able to attend.  We will be continuing this practice next term so please join us on Wednesdays at 8:50am if you can.

Earlier this week we sent out via Skoolbag a flyer with forthcoming faith events (see below). Our Easter Holy Week Prayer Service promises to be a unique and reflective experience so we hope some of you can come along and share it with us in the Red Centre next Wednesday afternoon at 2:40pm.

As we approach Holy Week and the celebration of Jesus' resurrection, I cannot help but contemplate its significance, the most important event in the Catholic calendar.

A time of hope, renewal and gratitude.

Warmest wishes and God's blessings,
