3/4 B

Week 9 Term 1

Maths

Over the past two weeks our focus has been on shape. We’ve looked at shapes in a variety of ways. We’ve looked at their properties, how they can transform using flip, slide and turn and looked at how shapes can have symmetry.

Ed in Faith

Over the past two Friday’s Fr Chinua has visited both 3/4 classes to talk about Baptism and the upcoming Sacrament of Reconciliation. Last Friday those students who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation participated in a special workshop morning led by Miss Marion, Miss Vanessa and Mr Brendan. It was a very prayerful and reflective morning for all candidates. On Tuesday those students were then able to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the very first time. It was a beautiful reflective service. Today we went to Mass in St Francis Xavier Church and celebrated as a 3/4 year level. Students were selected to read and take up the offertory gifts.

Inquiry

As the term comes to a conclusion we have been looking at a variety of different aspects of our identity including our favourite sports and hobbies, cultures and customs, role models and life principles we adhere to. The students have been creating cards for the ‘Game of Life’. The Game of Life is a game that we will play that will help the students to apply what we have learned across the unit and give them an opportunity to share with others and reflect on their identities. It should be a lot of fun to finish the term next week.

Walk for Epilepsy

We had beautiful weather for our walk for Epilepsy last Friday. It was great to see many students wearing the colour purple and promoting awareness of this worthy cause.

District Athletics:

Tomorrow our Year 4 students will get the opportunity to participate in their first Bayside District Track Athletics event at Ballam Park. Students have been selected to participate in a variety of events including: hurdles, 800m, 200m, 4 x 100 relays, 70m and 100m sprints. If you haven’t already please fill out the permission note via Operoo today! All required details can be found on the permission note. Parents are most welcome to attend the event and cheer on our school!

Next week on Tuesday 4th April, Year 4 students will trial for the Bayside District Field Athletics which will be held in early term 2. This is also a PE day so students will wear their PE uniforms as normal.

Happy Easter!
