Faith, Mission and Identity

“The less we have, the more we give. Seems absurd, but it’s the logic of love.”

—Mother Teresa

Welcome to the Lenten Season!

As we journey together as a community towards Easter, part of the Lenten call is to quiet and reflection. A call to still ourselves and consider our faith lives. It’s an opportunity to ask ourselves: Am I able to hear the voice of God?

Our lives are filled with so much noise. While our faith affirms that God is in all of these things, still, Lent calls us away. Lent calls us to our inner room. To an extra moment of quiet. To soften our hearts and listen for the voice of God. The still, small voice that whispers and waits inside of us. Calling us to return. Calling us to faithfulness. Calling us to begin our Lenten journey back home to the God who loves us.

This year, Pope Francis has called for the Universal Church to focus this lenten season on listening. The charter text for Christian listening might be James 1:19: “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” It’s simple enough in principle, but incredibly difficult to live. Too often, we are slow to hear, quick to speak, and quick to anger.

Almighty and ever living God,
You invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent.
May this time be one of outward focus; seeking you in those we often ignore.
Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter.
Give us hearts hungry to serve you and those who need what we have to give.
St Brigid... Pray for us.

Archbishop’s Leadership Luncheon

On Tuesday 7 March, our SRC Captain, Eliza Cooke and Sustainability Captain, Liz Frawley attended the annual Archbishop's Leadership Luncheon.

The Luncheon explored the theme "Leadership without Virtue is Nothing!" and provided an opportunity for the captains to discuss leadership ideas with the Archbishop and other captains from across the Archdiocese.

2023 World Youth Day

World Youth Day 2023 is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students to personally experience the universality of the Catholic Church, and to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who are committing their lives to Christ and His Church.

The College is fortunate to have eight (8) students attending WYD and we invite the BCR community to support our students by purchasing raffle tickets to raise funds to support their journey.

By donating, you will provide the opportunity for individuals to deepen their faith and grow closer to Christ, through prayer and the sacraments, together with hundreds of thousands of other young people.

Tickets are priced at $5 each, 2 tickets for $10, 5 tickets for $25, 10 tickets for $50, 20 tickets for $100, 30 tickets for $150, and 40 tickets for $200

The Raffle closes on the 3rd of May 2023 and will be drawn on the 5th of May 2023 at De La Salle Catholic College, Revesby Heights at 11:30 am.

Tickets can be purchased via the QR code below or by clicking on the link.

God bless,
