YEAR 12 RETREAT: A REFLECTION

I was fortunate enough to have stayed just outside of Bindoon at Orchard Glory Farm for Year 12 Retreat, and I could not have hoped for anything better. After a cheerful bus ride, we spent time settling into our accommodation and exploring the property, having alpacas, horses, geese, chickens, and goats, and possibly one of the most picturesque views from the hills anywhere I looked.

Activities across the three days followed specific themes: connecting with others, connecting with God and connecting with ourselves. Wednesday included a couple of icebreakers to create a closeness between all students before we spent time talking and reflecting about our families, drawing some significant life events and reading a letter from our parents. On the second day we got up for a 6:30am walk of the farm, really embracing the break from school and lessons. Thursday's focus was on connecting with God and we had a lot of time for self-reflection and exploring how we see God in our lives and how we respond to him. Students were given the opportunity to receive Reconciliation prior to participating in a shared Eucharist celebration, and we even did some face painting. Lastly, we capped off the day with a games night and some memorable Just Dance sessions. Friday was mostly packing up and getting ready to leave, although I do recall a very competitive game of musical chairs (so I was told) and writing a letter to our future selves.

Overall, I would say the retreat was by far one of my favourite memories of my high school journey, and I hope that all of my peers enjoyed it as much as I did.

During Heart Week, we, the Year 12s, had the opportunity to go on a retreat. Two Houses were put together at four different locations. I was located in Fairbridge in Pinjarra, the place where we had gone for Year 7 Camp.

Retreat was an amazing experience where every one of us got to connect more closely with each other and got to know more about one another. It was a time when everyone was able to share their experiences and thoughts, whilst the others listened closely.

One of the best things that retreat brought was a break from school and work to focus on ourselves and our relationships with others. It was a reminder that whilst school is important, the wellbeing of each of us are equally important within our final year of high school. The retreat was a time that many have considered to be one of the greatest memories of our Year 12 journey.
