I am sending the newsletter out a few days early this week so we can remind you about our learning Conferences this Thursday.

Learning Conferences:

These happen this Thursday, so there is no school on Thursday, 9 March.

We are aiming for a 100% turn-out, so if you are unable to make an appointment for this Thursday, your child's teacher will be in touch with you to arrange an alternative time to meet.

We look forward to seeing you this Thursday, and if you need to catch up with me while you're here, do feel free to pop in.

Thanks.

Last week I expressed my sincere thanks and appreciation to our parent community for supporting our recent Consultation Evening in such great numbers.

I have received some very encouraging feedback since then. For example -

With teachers’ care, love and teaching, I think my daughter is encouraged to be a good girl all the time. At the same time, this gives her a positive influence to learn about caring about others and providing warmth and happiness to her buddies. I think this is the best gift she received from WHS.

This is a good opportunity for me to express my respect and appreciation to you. I am surprised at the enthusiasm, love and persistence a good principal has. In such an environment, I believe my daughter is safe, happy and growing up in the right way while at WHS.

I heard my daughter is learning about bucket filling. I would like to ask whether you can spread the Bucket Filling and Pay It Forward theory and teaching approach to all primary schools and kindergartens around NZ.

If all kids are taught Bucket Filling when they are young, the negative situation with some youth in NZ will change in the future. This is only my personal suggestion.

Again thank you for all you and your teachers have done for all our kids and families.

Thanks for hosting the chat and talanoa evening today! It was valuable to me to be able to hear the school vision and to see the way you and the teaching team acknowledge and welcome feedback and parental involvement.

We're glad to be part of the Western Heights community!

I shared some surveys with our community last week, also. Sadly, the company I used to shorten the links charges (a lot) for this service and all shortened links last only a week unless you pay. This was a change since I last used that app, so now I share the surveys with you again - with a new URL shortener that will not drop the links after a week.

As I have shared many times, this is your school, and we really want to hear from you to gain a deeper understanding of our families,  your cultures and values. That understanding will help us make better connections with our families and help us do a better job nurturing and educating your precious children.
