WiiGaay 2023
Our WiiGaay students are getting ready for their first excursion for the new year. We are so excited for our students to bring back lots of new knowledge, skills and stories.
Date: Monday 27th - Friday 31st March 2023, Week 10
Location: Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Corindi Beach
We would also like to welcome our new WiiGaay Coordinator, Hanne Pederson.
Primary Cultural Learning Plan meetings (3-6)
Please meet us underneath our Culturally designed umbrellas located in our courtyard space to discuss your child/children's Cultural Learning Plan. There are no specific booking times for the afternoon, but if you are unable to make it during the allocated times, a signed copy will be sent home with your child. If you wish to have a private meeting with any of our Primary Campus AEA team please contact us.
We look forward to reconnecting and meeting new families who have joined us in the past year.

Word of the Week
Each time a student uses our "Word of the Week" in the classroom they will be awarded a point and the student with the most points at the end of the term will receive a book to further expand their vocabulary.
We will publish our Word of the Week on Facebook and in the newsletter. Please support your child to use this word at home. Week 8 - Captivating
St. Patrick's Day - Green Day - Friday 17th March
This Friday 17th March is St. Patrick's Day! Children are asked to wear green mufti clothes to celebrate. Please send in a gold coin donation to support our Caritas collection. A hat and closed in shoes are to be worn. Green treats will also be available from the Primary and Infants Canteen at Recess time only.
Friday 17th March - early collection of students
Many of our staff will be attending Gary McSweeney's funeral tomorrow 17th March to pay our respects. We do ask that if parents/carers are able to please collect your child/ren for an early dismissal at 12:00 noon to assist the school, as minimal supervision will be provided. Please collect your child/ren directly from their classrooms.
Please also note there will be NO CANTEEN LUNCH ORDERS AVAILABLE tomorrow, Friday 17th March.
NAPLAN Timetable - Years 3 & 5 students only
ANZAC Day March
St Edward’s students will once again join the Tamworth community in the ANZAC Day March on Tuesday 25th April 2023. We encourage all students from Kinder to Year 6 to represent our school in this march. Children are asked to wear full summer uniform (including hat) and meet the teachers at 9.30am in Bourke Street. At the conclusion of the march all students can be collected from Number 1 Oval in Kable Avenue. Thank you for your support of this important community event.
St Ed's P & F Easter Raffle
Our wonderful P & F committee is organising our annual Easter Raffle. Donations of easter eggs, baskets, cellophane and ribbon from families would be most welcomed and can be left at either school office. Please note raffle books were sent home with every student yesterday, Wednesday 15th March, and extra raffle books are also available from either school office.
School Fees
A reminder that Term 1 school fees are due this Friday 17th March and fee statements were emailed to families on 20th February 2023 by the Catholic Schools Office in Armidale. If you have not received an email, please check your spam before contacting our office staff for help.
Payment options include BPay, Compass Pay, Eftpos or Cash and are shown on the bottom section of your statement. By choosing BPay, you are able to set up a payment plan via your internet banking. This payment plan can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. You can stop it, start it or change it to suit your individual financial requirements throughout the year.
For those parents that pay school fees via Qkr!, this option will no longer be available very soon.
Student Absences
All student absences need to be lodged on the Compass Parent Portal. Due to government legislation, notification of your child's absence must be received no later than 7 days after your child's last day of absence.

COVID Safe Measures
This year, schools will continue to follow guidance issued by NSW Health to support the safety and wellbeing of our school communities.
Staff and students with COVID-19 symptoms
If a student or staff member is unwell and has any symptoms they should always test for COVID-19 and not attend school until they are symptom free.
Positive COVID-19 cases
If a student or staff member receives a positive result on with a RAT or PCR test they should:
- Record the positive result through the Services NSW website or app
- Notify the school of the positive results as soon as possible
Change of Details
We ask parents to please use the Compass portal to change phone numbers or email addresses. For changes to residential address or student medical details, please contact either school office via phone or email, thank you.
2024 Kindergarten Enrolments - ENROL NOW
Applications for Kindergarten 2024 are NOW OPEN. Please contact the Infants Campus for an enrolment pack. Enrolment Forms will not be processed until all supporting documents are received: Birth Certificate; Immunisation Certificate; Baptismal Certificate (only required if your child is baptised Catholic) and proof of student’s residential address. Please spread the word if you know of anyone with a child wishing to start at St Edward's School in Kindergarten in 2024.
Esteem Kids
Before school care is available in the Infants Hall for both Primary and Infants students. It operates from 7:00am to 8:30am, Monday through Friday during term and breakfast is provided.
After school care is available in the Infants Hall for Infants students only from 3:00pm to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. PLEASE NOTE this year that after school care is now operating from the Primary Art Room for primary students only from 3:00pm to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Afternoon tea is provided.
