A Prayer for the End of Term

Loving Father,

as we come to the end of another term

we turn to you in confidence

and place any difficult relationships

into the healing hands of Jesus, your Son.

Enable us to leave behind any pain of the past

and any regrets or bitterness,

entrusting the past to your mercy,

the present to your love,

and the future to your providence.

Help us appreciate more

the need to keep a good balance in our lives.

May the holiday be for us

a time of rest and recreation

to help restore us and re-create us

in your image and likeness,

as we enjoy more of the love and presence

of our families, on whom we ask your blessing.

Amen.

Sacramental Program 2023

As we continue to journey towards the celebration of the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation, I would like to share with you a wonderful resource that you can use to prepare together with your child/ren:

First Eucharist

Below is a letter that was sent home to all First Eucharist students this week. The letter details the important dates as well as answer some FAQs. If you did not receive a copy, please have a read of it at your leisure:

Confirmation

As we continue to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, a note will be sent home at the start of next term requiring some information for your child’s ‘Confirmation Card’, which will be used on the evening of the Sacrament and then kept in the parish office records.

Therefore, we ask that over the holiday break, you discuss and decide with your child/ Confirmation candidate a few things. Firstly, each candidate must decide on a saint name that they will take in Confirmation. Normally candidates choose a saint of the same sex as themselves, although this is not a requirement. Ideally, each candidate will have researched and selected a saint that inspires them.

Secondly, they will need to decide on who their sponsor will be. Their sponsor should be a Confirmed Catholic themselves, over the age of 16. The sponsor should not be a parent of the candidate. A special way to highlight the connection between Baptism and Confirmation is to have one of the candidate’s Godparents as their sponsor, if possible.

Please look out for further information regarding the ‘Confirmation Card’ and the celebration of the sacrament itself at the beginning of next term.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
