GRAVITATE: EMPOWERED TO IMPACT

By Bryce McDowell (Gravitate Co-ordinator)

The Gravitate retreat was a life-changing experience for our students as they encountered the Holy Spirit. Through leadership workshops, connecting with peers, and engaging in prayer and worship, their lives were transformed. They are now inspired to make a meaningful impact on their peers, driven by their faith in Jesus.

PUSH: EMPOWERING YEAR 8 STUDENTS THROUGH FUNCTIONAL TRAINING AND WELL-BEING

By Rosie Hargrave (Secondary Teacher)

Our Year 8 PUSH program runs every Tuesday and Thursday morning and focuses on different types of functional training. Our students complete a term of boxing, strength and conditioning, mountain biking and cross training.

We support students to gain confidence in the different activities and discuss the way these activities support our physical and mental health in a non-competitive environment.

Last week 20 of our Year 8 PUSH students went to participate in a class at CrossFit Knoxfield. These students worked hard and embraced different exercises, all while having a great time and supporting each other. We are very proud of their efforts. A big thank you to CrossFit Knoxfield for having us!

TALENT SHINES AT OUR FIRST MUSIC SOIRÉE

By Darryl Thompson (Music Teacher)

Our first Music Soirée took place last Wednesday in the Music Rooms. The promised deluge failed to deter the 25 or so students who performed to each other and their families. We had vocalists, drummers, a guitarist, a violinist, a saxophonist and pianists, who performed their pieces with panache. A highlight was the Heymann 3, a fledgling group to watch out for in the future. Thanks to all performers, parents, tutors and organisers behind the scenes who all make these wonderful evenings a success. The next Soirée will be in the restaurant near the end of the school year - watch this space for details to come.

TOASTY THURSDAYS

We are so blessed to have such an amazingly big-hearted team of Chaplains here at BHCS, whom conceptualised these mornings so that our Secondary students can start their day off on a warm and positive note. It's lovely to see them making connections with one another whilst having something yummy to put in their tummies. We've seen it grow from 65 students attending to now over 100 each week, which is a testament to the impact that this program is having. It has also been wonderful to partner with Foothills Community Care, who have been supporting us with donations of bread to help us continue these beautiful mornings.
