Year 2 Update

During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

Subject	Learning Focus
Reading	Week 1&2: We will continue to explore a range of texts that include sounds and heart words as part of our Little Learners Love Literacy program. This week students will be learning to answer comprehension questions and expand their vocabulary through different text. Students will participate in a range of reading activities that will support them in developing their phonological awareness. In particular focusing on the oa and ow diagraphs.
Writing	Week 1&2: Students revisiting writing a narrative. Students will be exploring a range of skills such as learning the correct parts of a narrative, reconstructing an existing narrative, planning and drafting student's own stories.
Maths	Week 1&2: Students will be developing their number fluency skills, at their individual point of need, through a range of daily activities at the commencement of all maths sessions. In week 2, students will also be developing their multiplication skills using 1- and 2-digit numbers.
Inquiry - 'What's our background'	Week 1&2: Students will be learning about the traditional cultures of Aboriginal and Torress Strait Islander People.
Social & Emotional Learning	Week 1&2: Students will be learning how to assess the level of importance of different situations based on the catastrophe scale.

We hope all families have had a restful break and ready for another busy term.
Fairytale Fiasco Incursion-Consent and payment is due this Friday 21st July. If you are eligible for an Education Allowance, please contact the office to arrange consent.
LLLL take home readers have all gone home last week. If your child still has any Little Learner books from last term at home, can these please be returned as soon as possibly for cataloguing and redistributing.
Library sessions have recommenced, with many students having outstanding books from term 2 and unable to borrow. Please encourage your child/ren to have a good look under beds and in bookshelves and return them to school as soon as possible.
