Year 1 Update

Upcoming Learning

Reading	Week 1 & 2 - We will be exploring a range of texts that include sounds and heart words as part of our Little Learners Love Literacy program. Students will participate in a range of reading activities that will support them in developing their comprehension skills and phonological awareness.
Writing	Week 1 & 2- Students will explore information reports and use digital technology to support them in creating their report.
Maths	Week 1 and 2 - Students will be using a range of strategies develop their skip counting skills.
Inquiry	Week 1 & 2 - Students will begin this terms inquiry unit on sustainability and explore ways that they can be sustainable in the community.
SEL	Week 1 & 2 - We will spend 15 minutes each day exploring winning and losing and the attributes of a good team player.

News and Reminders:

This term we have welcomed Mrs Tessa Strickland as the teacher of 1A. Mrs Strickland will be teaching 1A on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Mrs Zach will remain as the teacher of 1A on Thursdays and will be visible around the school in her new role as Acting Learning Specialist. Welcome to 1A Mrs Strickland!
Please remember to bring your child's reading books back to school so that they can be changed each week.
Please sign your child's reading log (located at the back of their phonics book) every night.
We have a number of overdue library books following the end of Term 2. Please remember to return your books on your class's assigned library day.
