Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

We were very fortunate with the weather this week for our Cross Country Day.

Congratulations to all of the competitors. It was wonderful seeing so many students having a go!

Thank you to Ms Foster and the staff for their organisation on the day and, also preparing the students earlier in the Term. Our thanks also to the Koodravsev family for the kind donation of oranges for everyone after their event.

Selected students from years 3-6 will compete at the Interschool Cross Country carnival on Thursday of week 3.

Congratulations to our Netball, Football and Soccer teams who did a brilliant job representing themselves and our school at the recent Winter carnival. They supported each other and did their very best.

The school has undertaken a range of well-being activities for both students and staff as part of Wellbeing week under different daily themes: Monday-Kindness [Bullying incursion and classroom activities.] Tuesday-Movement [Cross Country, Music assembly, dance warm-ups, team building.] Wednesday-Caring [Mindfulness activities.] Thursday-Create/Imagine [Art activities.] Friday-Reflect and Relax [Free Dress, relaxed class activities.]

Thank you to the staff committee who put the events together.

Thank you to staff for their efforts with the semester one reports and, also the moderation of work samples to assist them with assigning grades. Earlier staff provided an opportunity for parents to come in after hours for catch ups. This was a popular option for many families.

Students from Room 3 put on a wonderful assembly that covered their HASS learnings for the term.

Congratulations to Ms Edmonds, Mr Truong and our support staff along with the students for their research and presentation.

At the start of Term Three, the school will be acknowledging the NAIDOC Week theme: ‘For Our Elders’ with a range of class activities. On Thursday of week 1, there will be a cultural incursion from Gina Williams along with a Welcome to Country and Smoking ceremony from one of our local elders, Betty Garlett. The performance commences at 12:00pm and the Welcome earlier at 11:35am. Parents are welcome to come along.

Swimming lessons for older students will commence on Wednesday of week one and 2024 PEAC testing for year 4 will be undertaken in the first week back.

In week three the school will hold its Open Evening from 5:00pm-6:30pm to show case work undertaken during the first semester.

With your wonderful support the school is receiving $883 from Gilberts as part of their support to local schools for people who shop at one of their stores. Currently we have 404 supporters. Over $11,000 was distributed amongst 35 schools that joined the program for the first half of 2023.

The school term ends today.

Staff will return on Monday 17 July and students will recommence on Tuesday 18 July.

Staff would like to wish all, of our school community a safe and enjoyable Break.
