Assistant Principals' Report

Year 7-9 Assistant Principal Report:

Rachel Robertson

The last 2 weeks saw a busy end of term despite there being only 8 school days! Students

across years 7-9 have been finalising their Learning Tasks for the term. I would like to congratulate all students for the ways in which they have focused themselves and prepared for these assessments.

Alongside Learning Tasks, students have still managed to participate in a range of enrichment activities to support their learning. It was wonderful to see so many Year 7s signing up to participate in interschool Netball and Badminton competitions last week. In Year 8, students studying Chinese attended an excursion at The Museum of Australian Chinese. In Year 9, students participated in Morrisby counselling sessions to unpack their Morrisby online profile. This helped students learn more about themselves and where their strengths lie – a tool that is designed to help them gain insight into potential future career pathways.

Next term we have Parent Information evenings to begin the conversation about subject selections for 2024. It sounds early in the year to be doing this, but a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to prepare students – and families – in making important decisions about pathway options. Please check Newsfeeds for more information to come.

I would like to thank all students and families for their support and collaboration throughout this term. Reports have been published to parents and we encourage you to take some time over the holidays to read through your child’s report with your child and use it as a conversation starter about their progress and goals for semester 2.

Year 10-12 Assistant Principal Report:

Renee Liprino

As we approach the upcoming winter holiday break, I would like to express my gratitude to all the 10-11 students who participated in the exams, adding valuable study strategies to their repertoire for the future. I also extend a big congratulations to the Year 11 and 12 students who took part in the GAT, a significant event that transformed our double gym into an expanse of exam desks.

A special acknowledgement goes to the dedicated staff in the VCE team, Year 10 team, administration, and facilities for ensuring a seamless exam and GAT process and providing excellent support to our students.

I would also like to express my appreciation to both the staff and students who organised and attended the Year 11 Formal. It was a memorable night, with everyone dressed their best and enjoying plenty of dancing (even songs I recognised!). The entertaining awards ceremony at the end of the evening was a wonderful way to conclude, and the student MCs did an exceptional job of announcing the winners.

Class changeover is complete, and we are now in Semester 2, meaning Year 12 students have transitioned into their last unit - Unit 4, while Year 11 students have moved into Unit 2. For our VCE-VM students, it's important to begin planning your holiday study, ensuring you strike a balance between dedicated study time and well-deserved breaks.

To our Year 10 and 11 students, please initiate conversations with your families about subject selection for the following year, as the process will commence early in Term 3. Be sure to check your emails for more information and guidance.

I sincerely hope that everyone has a safe and productive holiday, finding moments of warmth and relaxation. I hope everyone returns refreshed and ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
